Dr. Terhorst has eight years experience in instruction of chemistry, including general and organic chemistry lecture and lab courses, both as a teaching fellow, teacher’s assistant, and individual tutor. In this time he has received and been nominated for teaching excellence awards based on student reviews. His experience working in groundbreaking computational and wet-lab research environments brings a rare, real-world perspective of science to students. John has a strong passion for teaching and mentoring, especially through undergraduate research. He has been invited to give guest lectures to both college-level ("Computers in Drug Discovery," University of Redlands, Redlands, California) and middle school-level ("Chemistry Through Computers," St. John Middle School, Encinitas, California) audiences and can successfully communicate science to all audiences, regardless of age or experience. See the Education and Publications sections for more information.
